How to Study During the Holidays

Student Holiday

The holidays are a great way to spend time with your family and friends. There are so many parties and outings to go to. You may find yourself invited to as many as two parties a week. If you have exams and assignments to study for, it can become frustrating trying to figure out whether you should have fun or focus on your work.

You don’t want to be antisocial because your family and friends are very important to you. There has to be a balance between fun time and study time.

Here are some things you can do to keep you focused during the holidays.

Pick and choose
Decide which party you’ll attend. If you decide to attend only three parties the whole month or one party, that’s okay. Don’t feel guilty because you have to say no to some friends. You don’t want to deny having fun with your family, but you have to limit how much time you’ll spend with them.

Meet with your study group
If you have a study group, make sure you plan to meet with them at least once a week. They’ll keep you motivated, and you can share some of the challenges the holidays bring. When you have a study group, you will be more accountable for completing your nursing assignments. Good study partners act as cheerleaders and keep you focused and on track.

Make a timetable
Make a timetable that you can follow. A timetable is a great way to keep you focused and to make sure you evaluate your progress. A timetable will motivate you because you’ll know what direction you need to go. If you don’t fulfill what was on the timetable on one day, you can make up the next day. Set deadlines on your timetable and try to stick to them. Make sure your timetable is flexible and realistic. Avoid making a timetable that has no room for relaxation or rest otherwise, you’ll only become stressed and anxious.

December comes once
Remember that December comes only once a year, and your family are very important. You want to make the holiday time memorable even if you have lots of studying to do. Decide what activities you will have with your loved ones and make a schedule with the date and time. Honor this schedule even if it’s just a few hours of fun time.

Trying to remain focused during the holidays can be a challenge, but it can be done.
